On 8th August 2016, our dad was diagnosed with terminal cancer. It was malignant melanoma (skin cancer) which had spread to his brain and lungs. That same week, Friday 12th August, our mum was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer - 2 tumours which were inoperable. Over the course of the next few months, we spoke with numerous cancer specialists, spent endless hours on Google searching for breakthrough cures and hoping for miracles. We didn't get our miracle, and our mum passed away on 2nd October, followed by our dad on 20th October that year. It was heartbreaking. They both lived out their final days in Marymount Hospice in Cork, cared for by the wonderful staff there.
There are so many new medicines and potential cures for these cancers just around the corner, so hopefully one of these bright sparks in a research lab can find one. Any help you can give to fund this would be much appreciated. Or just look at it as paying a few quid to see a fat, bald, non-cyclist hyperventilate and sweat profusely all over the back roads of Kerry...
